Dolly Parton musical halted over ‘homophobic abuse’
One actor in the work claims that a musical with Dolly Parton theme must be paused when homosexual abuse is thrown on the stage.
Here, Stevie Webb says, you see the whole actor again “off the stage because a woman is disgusting and there is a gay character on the stage.”
Mr Webber posted on social media platform Tiktok that the incident last Wednesday followed a similar trouble on Saturday when a man had to be removed from the audience.
ATG Entertainment, which operates the site, said it has adopted a “zero tolerance” approach to such incidents.
Mr Webber, who plays a huge fan of the country music superstar on the show, said there were problems with his London show, too.
He described an incident involving a man shouting offensive slurs, adding: “I just want to see Dolly Parton.”
Parton has long been LGBT and other allies for progressive reasonsin 2014, favored homosexual marriage.
Mr Webber said the incidents “really opened (his) eyes.”
“We’re all bubbles in this industry. But, traveling to the country and seeing how many people actually can’t stand the gay people portrayed on the stage – it’s crazy.”
Promotion here, you once again describe the show as “a hard-working fan whose fantasy version of international idol Dolly Parton has brought him through the tough times.”
The Opera House said such incidents were “rare” and that anyone engaged in abuse would be deleted “immediately”.
