Manchester City 115 charges case verdict ‘next month’ says Pep Guardiola

Manchester City owner Pep Guardiola said the club is expected to learn the results of the hearing in “within a month” to 115 charges suspected of Premier League financial rules.

The hearing was held before the Independent Commission from September to December.

If the city (strongly denies the charge) is found guilty, the commission has unlimited powers, which include a large amount of deductions or downgrades.

In September, Guardiola signed a two-year contract earlier this season to 2027, he said Manchester City critics want the Premier League champion to “wipe it from the earth”.

No one said when a decision will be made, although it is expected in the first quarter of 2025.

Guardiola confirmed this as he answered the question that Manchester City’s record £180 million in the transfer market during the winter window was triggered by the possibility of being hit by a transfer ban .

“In a month, I think there will be a sentence and a sentence,” he said. “After that, we will see my opinion on what has happened so far.”

Manchester City has brought four new players in the past month.

  • On January 20, Uzbekistan defender Abdoukodir Khusanov joined the French club footage for £33.6 million.

  • Brazilian teenager Reis was confirmed the next day to move £29.6 million from Palmeiras.

  • On January 23, Manchester City completed the signing of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.

  • They ended the winter recruitment campaign by paying Spanish under-21 midfielder Nico Gonzales in a £50m fee.

It is the second largest spending for Premier League clubs in the mid-season window, second only to Chelsea’s £275 million splurge in 2023, more than the top flights between the rest of England.

Guardiola denied that the tough team had only more effort than previous seasons. He ranks fifth at the league table, 15 points behind the Liverpool leader.

He also stressed that it is possible for Manchester City to make money over the past three seasons, partly due to sales from players like Cole Palmer to Chelsea and Liam Drapp (Liam Delap) and Ipswich (Liam Delap) sold for £57.5 million in total.

“My words won’t convince people,” he said. “I know that in this club, it’s always ‘almost money’.

“But over the last five years we’ve been the last of the top six in net spending. Even after what we’ve spent in the transfer window, we left Chelsea (Manchester) United, Tottenham Ger Arsenal. Even from Liverpool. The only reason we sold a lot last season.”
