The South African government has noticed the latest executive order issued by President Trump. It is very concerning that the basic premise of the order lacks factual accuracy and fails to recognize South Africa’s profound and painful history of colonialism and apartheid.
We are concerned about misinformation and publicity campaigns designed to falsely state our great nation. Disappointingly, this narrative seems to be favored by decision makers in the United States of America.
Ironically, the executive order provides refugee status in the United States with a group that remains one of the most economic privileges in South Africa, while vulnerable Americans are still deported, despite being real difficulties and deny.
We reiterate that South Africa remains committed to finding a diplomatic solution to any misunderstanding or dispute.
