Hearts: When Vladmir Romanov picked Graham Rix – and the team
Rix complies. Andy Webster and Robbie Neilson were abandoned by Martin Petras and Ludek Straceny. Points fell with a 1-1 draw.
The news leaked from the dissatisfied locker room, and soon everyone knew who was choosing the team.
Then Rix rebelled. Rangers are tourists in mid-March, breathing their hearts’ necks during the competition and becoming runner-up.
“We’re in five of five with the remaining five games, and it’s not the end of the world,” Ricks said.
“I showed him the team (Romanov) on Thursday, he wiped Julien Brellier and wrote it in Bruno Aguilar.
“Brell played all season and it wasn’t spectacular, but he won the tackles. They can’t be all artists, you need some soldiers there.”
Rix decided not to change his preferred team to play in such a key game – but know what the consequences would have.
“I told my wife that this will be my last game,” he said before fighting in his heart.
Ricks added: “I know I’m going to get a sack, but I feel completely reasonable about my job. Brell got people to play.”
“Roman just called me and said it wasn’t working out. We were second in the league and the Scottish Cup semifinals!”
Romanov: The first four episodes of Char Hearts are available on the BBC’s Sound, with five episodes released every week on Saturdays.
