Syria told Stockholm’s embassy that the Syrians were among the 10 victims of the worst gunman in Swedish history, a school in Orebro this week.
The alleged gunman, Rickard Andersson, who was appointed 35, was killed in the attack, but police have not yet determined him and have no motive.
The embassy’s announcement on its Facebook page is the first sign of who was killed in the attack on the Risbergska school on Tuesday.
It did not give details on the number of Syrians in the attack, but said: “We express our sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, including the dear Syrian citizens, and the friendly Swedish people.”
Police investigation chief Anna Bergkvist told the BBC that police can only confirm that people of multiple nationalities and ages are in trouble by the attack.
Salim Iskef, a 29-year-old Orthodox Christian who fled the Syrian war in 2015, was appointed one of the 10 victims of the shooting.
Santa Maria Church in Orebro said his life ended tragically in the attack. Sweden reports that he has become a Swedish citizen and is scheduled to get married in June.
His aunt told the Arabic website Alkompis that he made a videotape with his mother saying he was shot and asked her to take care of her fiancé.
The Bosnian ambassador told the Swedish Daily Express that two Bosnian citizens were also victims. He said one person was injured and the other was missing. The Bosnian Foreign Ministry expressed condolences and spoke about the Greater Bosnian community in Orebro.
Orebro police said the alarm was issued at 12:33 Tuesday (11:33 GMT) and about five minutes later, the First Patrol arrived at the school, about 200 km (124 km) west of Stockholm on a large educational campus.
District Police Chief Lars Wiren said in a press conference Thursday that 130 police officers eventually arrived at the school.
He said they could only be described as “hell” when they entered the school building on Tuesday, saying: “The dead, screams and smoke.”
He talked about a chaotic scene where people run inside and outside a large school, extending about 17,000 square meters.
Wiren told the BBC there was no evidence that the bomb had detonated, but said the smoke could have come from a suspicious fire or smoke bomb.
He said they believe the suspect had fired at police but the officers did not fire backwards. An hour later, the gunman was found dead at the scene.
Police investigator Anna Bergkwist said the suspect committed suicide.
She confirmed that three guns were found at the scene next to the gunman, with a total of four guns known to be legally registered by the suspect.
However, she declined to comment on the type of gun or ammunition used.

Police remain nervous about the suspect and the possible motivations behind the attack.
Bergkwist explained that the delay in naming the suspect was due to waiting for a DNA sample to match.
Swedish police are usually cautious about naming suspects and usually don’t do so before the charge is filed, but Bergvester said they expect an exception in this case and release a name in the coming days.
Risbergska schools provide adult education for people over the age of 20 who do not attend school or secondary school, as well as courses for Swedish immigration.
Young residents of Orebro have expressed concerns about the racial factors of the shooting, and Syrian statements confirmed that immigration was one of the victims.
The video aired by Sweden’s TV4 was recorded in a gun attack in a school toilet, with the word “stay away from Europe”! Heared.
It is not clear who shouted these words, and the police have been careful not to discuss the motivation.
But Bergkwist appears to have issued an early statement from authorities on Tuesday saying the motive for the attack was not ideology.
“I can’t comment on why they say that,” she said. “We’re looking at different motivations and we’re going to declare it when we have it.”
Rickard Andersson is described as a hermit locally, and a report by Swedish website Aftonbladet shows that his attacks may target local social services.
A source told the site that after he lost his benefits, he argued with a social worker because he wasn’t doing enough to find a job.
Police earlier said the suspect had not been convicted before, had no obvious connection to the gang, and they did not believe the attack was motivated by terrorism.
