Embassy of Sri Lanka in Egypt celebrates the 77th anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Cairo commemorates the 77th Independence Day of Sri Lanka at the Embassy Venue, with participation of the Sri Lankan community in Egypt.

The award ceremony was raised by the national flag of Sisira Senavirathne, who is stationed in Egypt, and was followed by the national anthem. In honor of the heroes, they sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country and observed two minutes of silence. The ceremony included illuminating traditional oil lamps and conveying blessings to the government and the Sri Lankan people through religious messages representing the country’s four main beliefs. He also acknowledged that Sri Lankans have made significant contributions to the country’s development and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting its welfare, security and dignity, which is a top priority. The ambassador designation highlighted the strong ties between Sri Lanka and Egypt that highlighted the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations in various fields, such as trade, investment, economy, culture, education and human-to-human connections.
