Ange Postecoglou: Mathys Tel never rejected Tottenham
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou denied reports that Mathys Tel initially rejected the club’s deadline, and his deadline moved to North London.
Last week, it was reported that the 19-year-old forward refused to move to the Spurs even after Germany met with Chairman Daniel Levy.
But TEL was photographed in London on Monday and then completed the transfer from Bayern Munich’s transfer deadline, initially borrowed, but the Spurs held a £47.5 million summer purchase.
Asked if TV turned down the Spurs, Postecoglou said: “I think people need to understand that you’re talking about a 19-year-old who has to make a big decision for his career, and that’s not that he rejects us or refuses us. Anyone else.
“I think he just wants to be happy with his decision. I don’t think he wants to be pushed in a certain direction, which is commendable for him.
“I had a conversation with him, purely next to the football, and I think he’ll find a really good place here.”
Postecoglou has previously said that although they are currently ranked 14th at the Premier League table, he only wants to sign players dedicated to the club program.
Asked if he felt that TV was dedicated to the Spurs, postecoglou said: “Yes, 100%. I’m sure it’s over 100% because he spent a lot of time and worked hard to find everything. He has other options. , so it gives me more confidence that we are getting the right mindset and being the right players.
“He was very ambitious. He had a good sense of confidence and confidence. He felt he could reach the top of the game and chose us, which was a great confirmation of our work.”
TEL can make its debut when the Spurs lead Liverpool 1-0 in the second leg of the Calaba Cup on Thursday night.
PosteCoglou confirmed TEL and new defensive signature Kevin Danso, but major defensive duo Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero will still be out.
