Alex Dunne: Irish driver steps up to Formula 2 with Rodin Motorsport

Alex Dunne of Ireland will be competing in Formula 1 in 2025, bringing his dream closer.

The 19-year-old will drive the Rodin Motorsport in Formula 2, the Formula 1 category, and race with Motorsport’s Premier Series.

After an impressive rise on the racing ladder, Dunn signed McLaren’s development driver in May, who won the Formula One Builders title in 2024.

Dunne won two podiums while driving for MP Motorsport in his first season in Formula 1.

“I look forward to the upcoming season and thank everyone for the support that will get me into this stage – I can’t wait to run,” Dunn said.

He drove in the seasonal Formula Test in Abu Dhabi in December and released the third fastest lap on the last day of Yas Marina Circuit.

His teammate at Rodin will be Christian Mansell of Australia, who finished fifth in Formula 3.

“Alex’s talent, dedication and enthusiasm for the race is in line with the values and ambitions of our team,” said Benn Huntingford, Motorsport Director and Team Manager at Rodin.

“We are confident that he will have a significant impact in the upcoming season and know that he has the ability to have a very enjoyable season with the team.”
