Egypt: Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Discusses Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Relations with Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture
Dr. Plan, Dr. Rania Aa-Mashat, the Minister of Economic Development and International Cooperation, met with the Ukrainian agricultural policy and Food Minister Vitaly Kovaly, and the deputy minister of Economic and many officials in the existence of the Ukraine Ambassador to Ukraine MYKOLA NAHORONYI. The focus of the meeting is to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, which is in line with the common development priority and its close bilateral relations.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian minister’s visit to emphasize the country’s keenness to cooperate with Ukraine.
His Minister Al-Mashat pointed out that the Egyptian government is committed to establishing relations with Ukraine in various fields, increasing trade exchanges, exploring investment opportunities provided by Egypt in Ukraine, and finding a way to increase Egypt’s investment in Ukraine.
Dr. Al-Mashat pointed out that Ukraine is the key trading partner of Egypt and pointed out that the Egyptian-Ukraine economy, the joint committee of science and technology cooperation provides a framework for promoting bilateral cooperation. The committee made a decision to promote trade exchanges, strengthen the relationship between the private sectors of the two countries, and create an environment that helps merchants help to achieve development plans and enhance investment. It also aims to increase cooperation in the areas of common interests.
He co-hosted the eighth meeting of the Egyptian-Ukraine Commission with the first vice premier and Minister of Economic Minister of Ukraine, which aims to strengthen the cooperation of the priority department. The meeting also witnessed the cooperation agreement between Egypt and Ukraine in the field of standardization, specifications and quality, as well as a memorandum of understanding in the space field.
Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which is an important logistics area. She confirmed that many countries have their own exports and manufacturing areas, inviting these countries to visit Egypt, and closely explore the advantages of the Suez Canal.

Dr. Al-Mashat confirmed that the government has been expanding the infrastructure of the tube warehouse to ensure that the country’s demand for wheat and grains, and enhance the ability of Egypt to store and export logistics centers as a grain storage and export. She also mentioned that the opening ceremony of the western port was funded by developers in 2021, which further improved Egypt’s ability in this region.
His Minister Al-Mashat emphasized that Egypt’s efforts to expand its industrial foundation and promote domestic industries are a key part of the Egyptian economy.
Dr. Al-Mashat mentioned that this may be paving the way for the solid partnership between the two parties, thereby benefiting from Ukraine’s professional knowledge in multiple industries. Egypt and Ukraine can jointly develop agricultural projects, including seed production, agriculture and food manufacturing.
His Minister Al-Mashat also emphasized the firm partnership of Egypt and several development partners, including the EU and European reconstruction and development banks, which can further enhance the cooperation between the two countries by encouraging the investment of the private sector.
The meeting also covers the cooperation of tourism. Ukraine is considered to be one of Egypt’s main tourist partners. Ukrainian tourists sometimes reach 1.5 million each year.
As far as he is concerned, Minister Ukraine expressed the possibility of desire to explore the establishment of a logistics area in Egypt as a hub exported to Africa. He also said that he was interested in visiting the Suez Canal Economic Zone and strengthening business partnerships between the two countries.
Ukraine Minister emphasized the common interests of several key areas, especially agriculture, which is the main department of Ukraine, accounting for 59 % of foreign exchange income. He pointed out that Ukraine’s agricultural exports reached $ 24.6 billion, providing millions of jobs. The industry can represent important opportunities for cooperation with Egypt and increasing trade exchanges.
He added that the export of Ukraine in Egypt last year increased by 32 % to $ 1.4 billion, and Africa’s total agricultural exports reached 2.6 billion US dollars.
He confirmed that Ukraine believes that Egypt is the gateway to Africa, and emphasizes that his country is committed to expanding his commitment to cooperate with Egypt in many priority fields, and use Egypt’s strategic geographical location to increase Ukraine’s exports to Africa.
