Resignation of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Danny Lucas
The Presidential Office today announced the resignation of Mr. Danny Lucas, chairman of the Election Commission. His resignation letter was officially introduced and accepted by Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, President of the Republic.
Mr. Lucas serves the country with dedication, professional and honest. He was appointed as the chairman of the Election Commission in April 2019 and played a key role in strengthening democracy. It is worth noting that Mr. Lucas played a role in supervising the country’s first political transition in October 2020 to ensure that freedom, fair and transparent election process.
Mr. Lucas has a bachelor’s degree in law and literature from the University of Kent of the United Kingdom, and has a graduate diploma at the London University of London. After studying in 1986, he joined the General Attorney General Hall as an assistant lawyer and was eventually appointed as a state lawyer. From 1990 to 2019, Mr. Lucas has been a lawyer and notary of the private sector. In 1993, Mr. Lucas was appointed as chief election officer of the second national voting and the president and the National Assembly election.
Mr. Lucas has outstanding occupations in the field of legal and governance, bringing rich experience and firm commitments to his role. His leadership in the election committee is in a profound responsibility for justice, toughness, and the principles of maintaining democracy.
On behalf of the government and the people of the Seychelle, the valuables of Mr. Lucas thanked Mr. Lucas. His contribution has a lasting impact on the national election framework and democratic system.
“We paid tribute to Mr. Lucas to recover quickly and continue their strengths in the new chapter of his life. The procedure for appointing the new chairman will be carried out in accordance with the laws and procedures of the political committee.” President Ramcarawan said.
