BHA: Chairman Joe Saumarez Smith steps down as cancer spreads
Joe Saumarez Smith announced on Thursday that Joe Saumarez Smith resigned from the chairman of the British Racing (BHA) after cancer spread.
The 53 -year -old man made a decision immediately behind his lung cancer.
He was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2023 and continued to play his role when he was treated.
He said: “I was told me that my life span was very limited. If I did not hand over INS ropes immediately, I think this is very unfair for horses.”
“Since the age of eight, it is a huge privilege to have such a high -end role in a sport that I like.”
Director David Jones will serve as an interim chairman until June 1 officially transferred to Chairman Lord Charles Allen.
Saumarez Smith added: “If you raise the question of whether cancer damage my ability, I don’t want to stay and make a decision to challenge future challenges.”
BHA took care of the governance, administrative management and supervision of the British racing and racing industry.
