Pebble Beach Pro-Am: ‘Diminished’ PGA Tour could scale back number of events says Rory McIlroy

McIlroy will start at the 2025 PGA Tour at Pebble Beach Pro-AM this week, and warn not to make too much change to imitate the content provided by other places.

He said: “I don’t think we should try stupid golf to attract more people.”

“Golf is golf at the end of the day. This has been hundreds of years. You know, I really like the way golf, and I also think that many others do this, but I still know how to criticize entertainment products that may become better.

“I hope people will find interesting, if not, then I don’t know what to tell them.”

In recent weeks, a continuous criticism in the PGA tour is the rhythm of the game, but the four main winners acknowledge that there is no simple solution.

As a signature event, this week will limit 80 that will be limited to pebble beaches, but the number of this season will deny other people to play opportunities.

He said: “There are many different answers, but not every answer will make everyone happy.”

“I can say a smaller field. Small areas, smaller areas will help the pace of the game, but this takes away the opportunity of people. I think another thing is to be in the year when we are in the year. When playing at this time, Tee Times has to become closer so that they can make everyone through the light and everything through the sun.

“If you can put the serve table at more time, it will make things better.”
