Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs beaten by Indiana Pacers in Paris
France’s Victor Wembanyama couldn’t stop his San Antonio Spurs from beating the Indiana Pacers 136-98 in Paris.
Defeated by the Spurs 140-110 The Pacers avenged that defeat with a convincing victory Thursday in the first of two regular-season NBA games in the French capital.
Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 28 points, while Pacers teammate Pascal Siakam added 23 points.
Wembanyama, who played for the Paris-based Metropolitans 92 before being selected by the Spurs with the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, had 20 points and 12 rebounds as teammate Harrison Barnes contributed 25 points at Accor Arena.
This is the fourth year that the NBA will hold its regular season games in Paris.
“It’s really fun to be here,” Haliburton said. “It helps grow the game and the opportunities in the league are just amazing.
“We just want to do well for the city. I thought that was a really good performance from us tonight, just trying to keep going.”
