Meeting between Foreign Minister Iwaya and Mr. Allafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya
On January 24, Japanese Foreign Minister Mr. Iwaya Takeshi held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Allafi, Vice Chairman of the Libyan State Presidential Council, during his visit to Japan. diplomatic. His member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aymen Seifennaser, also participated in the meeting on the Libyan side. An overview is below.
- First, Minister Ivia welcomed Vice President Alafi’s visit to Japan following his visit in January last year, noting that high-level visits between the two countries have been inspiring over the past year. In response, Vice President Allafi said Libya would work together to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, including peace-building.
- Regarding the situation in Libya, Minister Ivia highly appreciated Vice President Alafi’s national reconciliation efforts. He expressed his hope for political stability in Libya through elections and the establishment of a unified government. In response, Vice President Alafi explained the role and efforts of the Presidential Council to further stabilize Libya through national reconciliation and elections.
- The two sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral people-to-people exchanges and promote cooperation on peace in Libya.
- The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation in the international arena, the situation in East Asia, the situation in the Middle East, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and climate change, and agreed to continue working together.
