Eritrea: Inauguration of Arberobu Dam

Ministry of Information of Eritrea

On January 23, the Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Defense Forces, General Flipos Woldeyohannes, established the Arberobu Dam, which cost approximately Nakfa 5 million.

The dam, which has a capacity of over 120,000 cubic meters of water, was built through a collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Central Region Management Department, the Adi Haro Project and members of the Defense Forces.

In addition to providing drinking water for humans and livestock, the dam will significantly boost vegetable and fruit farming in the area.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to building large and micro soldiers to boost agricultural production, Central Region Managing Director Mr. Zerit Tewoldebrhan cited the construction of dams at Gul’i, Temami’o, Afdeyu and Adi-Qe, as well as Dirfo and Adi-Qe. Hawush’s ongoing project serves as an example of this work.

Mr. Mehari Yohannes, Gala-Nefhi Sub-Regional Administrator, and Pastor Desale Gebrenegus, Arberobu Administrative District Administrator, emphasized the role of the dam in improving the socio-economic status of the residents.

Defense Force commanders involved in the project praised all those involved in the construction of the dam and called for proactive measures to address potential challenges in similar plans.

The administrative district of Arberobu is located approximately 11 kilometers east of Asmara.

Issued by Apo Group on behalf of the Ministry of Information of Eritrea.
