Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and Renewable Energy Solutions for Africa (RES4Africa) conclude technical and vocational training for Eritrean renewable energy professionals
ECA has announced the conclusion of an Eritrean training program in partnership with the Res4Africa Foundation, the Eritrean Ministry of Energy and Mines, and supported by Strathmore University, underscoring a shared commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The final conference, held in Asmara, Eritrea, from 20 to 24 January 2025, focused on EPC, renewable energy economics, business models and regulatory frameworks.
The program spans four modules from September 2024 to January 2025, providing insights into the entire microgrid value chain for rural electrification. Tailored to meet Africa’s growing energy needs, it provides local professionals with the necessary technical, management and regulatory skills to promote energy access and Sustainable Development Goal #7. The training brings together experts from various institutions in the fields of energy infrastructure, renewable energy and productive utilization.
The final session centered on Module 4 and explored key areas such as EPC (engineering, procurement and construction), renewable energy economics, business models and regulatory frameworks. Participants gain practical and theoretical knowledge of decentralized renewable energy solutions, building capabilities in project financing, policy design and implementation tailored to African contexts.
The successful conclusion of this training not only marks the end of the training, but also marks a new beginning for the 30 trainees. Armed with internationally recognized certifications and enriched through expert-led courses and fieldwork, these professionals are now equipped to pioneer sustainable energy solutions and make a lasting impact in their communities.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all participants, partners and experts who contributed to the success of this event.
