WARNING: This article reveals the consequences of Traitor.
Season 3 of “Traitors” wins after a cliffhanger finale.
The finale pits loyal Francesca Rowan-Plowden, Alexander Dragonetti, Leanne Quigley and Jack Brown against traitor Charlotte Berman.
After weeks of challenges, murders, roundtables and banishments, the final challenge in the series concluded with a final prize of £94,600.
Former soldier Leanne and project manager Jack were the final two to split the money after revealing they were both huge fans.
Leanne screamed thanks Jack for “not letting me down.”
“I feel like my body is going to collapse, but I’m really happy,” Jack said.
The final roundtable differed from previous years in that the banished players did not leave revealing whether they were traitors or believers.
This means that the remaining contestants can only rely on their own instincts to determine whether there are any traitors in the game.
Later in the year, Francesca becomes a “prophet,” a power that allows her to find out the true identity of another contestant.
Unfortunately for Charlotte, the last of the traitors, Francesca chooses her and is able to discover that her companion is not the loyalist she assumed.
The series finale follows a hugely successful series on the BBC which has already attracted more than 9 million viewers, a number that will continue to rise as more viewers catch up.
This elevates the show beyond its first two series and makes Traitor one of the hottest dramas on British television right now.
As in previous years, several of this year’s contestants have developed loyal followings online as the series has progressed, especially Linda, who is one of the breakout social media stars.
Her shockingly shocking performance has inspired hundreds of GIFs and memes on social platforms in recent weeks.
Other stars of the show include the impressively cunning traitor Mina, the incredibly polite Alexander, the intuitive Fauzia and, of course, the traitorous Charlotte and her fake Welsh accent.
The narrative arc of season three is markedly different from the first two seasons.
In season one, three loyal contestants emerged victorious after slaying the last traitor, Wilf, in the finals. In the second series, the original traitor Harry made it to the finals, and won.
What’s different about season three is that none of the original traitors chosen in the first episode make it to the end.
The different paths each series takes suggests that the show’s format has the potential to last for several years, as each ending keeps viewers guessing and difficult to predict.
However, contestants are becoming increasingly aware of the way the show is produced, speculating on the decisions being made behind the scenes.
For example, Ellen, one of this year’s True Believers, correctly speculated in an early episode that there would be more female Renegades this year, following last year’s mostly male lineup.
As players gradually become more savvy, producers will have to continually make changes to ensure the show remains fresh and unpredictable, keeping players on their toes.
A celebrity version of Renegade will air later this year, bringing a new twist to the show. It has not yet been determined who will participate.
