India v England: Bryson Carse in for Gus Atkinson for second T20
England are looking to get back into the series after a humiliating defeat in Kolkata in Brendan McCullum’s first game as white-ball coach.
England were bowled out for 132 and the historical weakness against spin was once again exposed as the Indian trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Ravi Ravi Bishnoi took a combined figure of 5-67 in 12 overs.
Batsman and vice-captain Harry Brooke said England were “very cold” at the opener’s result but also said the smog in Kolkata made it difficult to read the home bowlers’ figures.
“There was smoke that night, so it was hard to pick,” Brook said. “Hopefully the air is a little clearer out here and we can see the ball easier.
“Facing spin in T20 cricket is probably the hardest thing in the game, especially because I always try to hit it completely,” he said.
“Maybe I’ll have to rein it in, but we’ll see.”
