British and Irish Lions: Farrell ‘intrigued’ to watch Six Nations from sidelines

British and Irish Lion coach Andy Farrell said that watching the Six Kingdoms competition this year will not lead Ireland to be “a bit different.”

The 49 -year -old British led the Irish team twice to win the Sixth National Championships, but during the Australia trip this summer, he will temporarily resign from the coach of the male lion team.

Farrell told RTE: “I would like to watch on the sidelines -this will be a bit different for me, watching the Six Kingdoms competitions on the sidelines.”

“Not only that, but also large European competitions, URC and Premier League. I wish you all good luck.”

Simon Eastby replaced Farrell as an interim coach, and the Irish team is fighting for the three consecutive championships of the Six Kingdoms.

After serving as assistant coaches of the 2013 and 2017 series, Farrell replaced Warren Gatland as the head coach of the lion.

He will prepare 10 games for the Lion, including the first test against Argentina in Dublin, and three test series of three tests against Australia in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Farrell added that he only focused on choosing the right team for the Lions.

“This is always the work of the head coach-everyone always asks the difficult decision to make-but my job is to let the team do the right thing.

“The team I want to coach in the summer is the British and Irish Lions.”
