Australian Open 2025: Aryna Sabalenka aims for third straight title in final against Madison Keys
The odds were against Key as she looked to deny Sabalenka the Australian and U.S. Open finals she won.
Sabalenka has won four of her previous five meetings with Key, including wins in her first two Grand Slams.
Their most recent meeting at a Major in the semi-finals of the US Open in 2023 was particularly painful for Keys.
The American dominated the match with a 6-0 5-3 lead, only for Sabalenka to mount a remarkable comeback.
“I felt like I was trying to make a play,” Keys said of the loss.
“That’s such a shame. I don’t want to look back in the same situation and think ‘I should have gone for this’.
“I don’t want to have regrets.”
