Jimmy Butler suspended by Miami Heat for second time after missing team flight
Jimmy Butler has been suspended for the second time in three weeks by the Miami Heat after missing the team’s flight to Milwaukee.
The 35-year-old striker is The Heat were suspended for seven games earlier this month “Repeated behavior detrimental to the team.”
Butler returned from suspension last Friday but missed the team’s flight on Wednesday, resulting in a further two-game suspension.
The Heat said they would listen to trade offers following Butler’s first suspension and said the veteran will now miss Thursday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks and Saturday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
“We suspended Jimmy Butler for two games for his continued disregard for team rules, insubordination and conduct detrimental to the team, including missing today’s team flight to Milwaukee,” the team said in a statement. ”
Butler, a six-time NBA All-Star, joined the Heat in 2019 from the Philadelphia 76ers.
He has played 25 games for the Heat this season, averaging 17 points, 4.8 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game.
The NBA trade deadline is February 6th.
