BJK Cup Finals to be held in Shenzhen, China for next three years
The Billie Jean Gold Cup Finals will be held in Shenzhen, China for the next three years.
China, defending champion Italy and six qualifier teams will compete in the one-week finals in 2025, with a specific date yet to be determined.
Three venues in Shenzhen are under consideration, including the 12,000-capacity Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, which hosted the WTA Finals in 2019.
Prague, Glasgow, Seville and Malaga have been chosen as host cities for the first four editions, but organizers say a global event of this nature cannot stay in Europe for too long.
“This announcement demonstrates our commitment to bringing the country’s passion and excitement for national team tennis to markets around the world,” said Billie Jean King.
This tournament was formerly known as the Confederations Cup. 18 teams are divided into 6 groups, with 3 teams in each group participating in the qualifiers. The first team in the group advances to the finals.
Great Britain are drawn into Group F, along with Germany and the Netherlands, for April’s qualifiers.
Canada, the 2023 World Cup champions, play Japan and Romania in Group A, while Group B features Brazil, the Czech Republic and Spain.
Slovakia, the United States and Denmark are in Group C, while fourth-seeded Australia faces Kazakhstan and Colombia in Group D.
Group E includes Poland, Switzerland and Ukraine.
