Nigeria Begins Exporting to Kenya Under Key African Trade Agreement – Africa.com
Nigeria has successfully exported its first consignment to Kenya under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), marking a major milestone in Africa’s ambitious trade integration efforts. The shipment consisted of synthetic filament produced by Lucky Fibers Limited (Lush) and was coordinated by Nigeria’s African Continental Free Trade Area Coordination Office in compliance with African Union directives. Olusegun Orutayo, senior trade expert at Nigeria’s African Continental Free Trade Area Office, said the initiative demonstrated Africa’s strategic focus on enhancing market access amid global economic tensions. The Nigeria office commended Kenya for its seamless cooperation and commended the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat and the Kenya Revenue Authority for their role in the success of the initiative. AfCFTA involves 54 countries and aims to create the world’s largest free trade area by reducing tariffs, promoting industrialization and promoting economic growth for Africa’s 1.3 billion people.
