National Sports Commission Reaffirms Commitment as Partner and Co-host of the Sports Africa Investment Summit – Africa.com
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reiterated its active participation as a partner and co-host in the upcoming Sports Investment Summit in Africa (SAIS) 2025. The National Sports Council, led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, reiterated its unwavering commitment to further the summit’s mission of driving economic growth through sports. The summit is now scheduled to take place on February 17-18, 2025, a change that reflects the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that the event is in line with its new vision of fostering a sustainable and inclusive sports ecosystem in Nigeria.
In a statement about the postponement, Mallam Shehu Dikko stressed:
“The National Sports Commission is committed to shaping a sustainable, inclusive sports ecosystem in Nigeria. The decision to postpone SAIS reflects our desire to align this summit with our new vision and ensure maximum public sector participation. This additional time It will enable us to strategically mobilize resources, foster collaboration and demonstrate leadership in sports investment.”
As a highlight of SAIS 2025, Mallam Dikko will deliver a landmark agenda-setting keynote speech at the opening ceremony on February 17. His address will highlight the Commission’s strategy to reposition sport as a strong economic sector driven by innovative business models and reaffirm its role as a catalyst for the transformation of societies and communities in Nigeria and across Africa.
Mallam Dikko will also participate as a panelist in two important breakout sessions:
- Facilities, stadiums and arenas: a strategy for the development of the sports infrastructure industry
- Accelerating industrialization through sports development and investment
Through these events, Malham Dicko will further highlight the National Security Council’s commitment to promoting public-private partnerships and using sport as a driver of sustainable development. The partnership underlines the Council’s vision to transform sport into an economic driver capable of delivering wide-ranging social and community impact.
With the theme “Unleashing Africa’s potential: Investing in sports infrastructure for a sustainable future” SAIS 2025 aims to bring together policymakers, investors and industry leaders to explore transformative strategies to unlock significant opportunities across the African sports ecosystem.
