Ireland v England: ‘Lions selection brings that extra factor’ – Caelan Doris
Ireland won three of four games in the November international window, with their only defeat coming to New Zealand, before beating Argentina, Fiji and Australia.
“If you look at the fall, some results were good, some were not so good, and so was the performance. So it feels like there’s a lot of room for growth and we want to pursue that together,” Easterby added.
“If we can play to our potential, I’m sure we can beat other teams.”
Ireland will be put in interim charge by Simon Easterby during the Six Nations while regular head coach Andy Farrell prepares to lead the Lions this summer.
Easterby has been an assistant coach for the Irish since 2014.
“I think it’s going to be a seamless transition and people have confidence in him (Easterby) to do a great job,” Doris enthused. There’s a lot of continuity within the team, within the front office, within the environment, within the program and the way we want to play.
“I don’t think it’s going to change much. Sis has been incredible for us, he’s been the forwards coach and more recently the defense coach and has a lot of respect in the team and is well-liked by the players.”
