Nigeria Seeks Global Investments to Drive Mining Sector Growth – Africa.com
Finance Minister Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite has said Abuja is prioritizing global mining cooperation to boost the Nigerian economy. Uzoka-Anit unveiled Nigeria’s plans during a speech at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh. She highlighted Nigeria’s untapped resource wealth and invited global investors to participate in Nigeria’s efforts to position it as a global leader in the minerals and energy industry through innovative and sustainable enterprises. Uzoka-Anite reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s determination to drive growth in the mining and energy sectors and diversify the economy. As of October 2024, the revenue of the Nigeria Mining Cadastral Office exceeded US$4.8 million. However, it faces funding constraints. Recently, the country’s Minister of Solid Mineral Development Dele Arak criticized the 2025 mining budget as insufficient to stimulate exploration and investment.
