Sean Lynn named Wales women’s new head coach
“As we prepare for the Six Nations and the Rugby World Cup, it promises to be the most important year in the history of women’s rugby.
“We still have a lot of work to do but having coached the Wales internationals in England and played against them, I know we have players that the country can be proud of.”
In addition to coaching the PWR team, Lynn also oversees the rugby program at Hartpury College and University.
He was unveiled by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) at the Principality Stadium on Monday.
Lynn has made no secret of his ambition to coach at international level, but Downplay your connection to the character Cunningham quit just weeks later.
His appointment could be a good fit for Wales, with Gloucester-Hartpury boasting a host of Welsh internationals including Hannah Jones, Cecilia Tupulotu, Leuku George, Bethan Lewis, Kate ·Williams and Kelsey Jones.
He will work closely with Belinda Moore, who was recently appointed to a high-profile new role as head of women’s rugby at WRU Wales.
WRU chief executive Abi Tierney said Lynn’s appointment “underscores” the importance of the Wales women’s team and underlines the union’s desire for the team to progress.
She added: “His abilities as a coach are second to none and his two back-to-back titles at PWR have proven that.
“I am delighted that he has accepted the role. He was an outstanding candidate from a number of highly qualified applicants who recognized what a prestigious and important role it is to be Wales head coach.”
