Marcus Rashford: Man Utd forward not giving up on playing for club again

Marcus Rashford has not given up all hope of playing for Manchester United again.

Rashford has not featured for United since being substituted in the Europa League win over Viktoria Plzen on December 12, and his training performance has since been questioned by head coach Ruben Amorim.

The 27-year-old has been on the bench at one point during this period, when he was an unused substitute in the 3-0 home defeat to Newcastle on December 30.

Asked about Rashford’s situation after the game Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford Amorim said “it’s his choice”, sparking speculation Rashford’s request would not be considered.

However, club sources are not convinced by what Amorim meant and believe the former Sporting CP boss simply outlined that Rashford’s future is in his own hands.

Sources close to the player have stressed that Rashford wants to play for Manchester United and has no major issues with Amorim and would be available if he was called up.

Rashford has been linked with a number of European clubs and there is still a chance he could leave on loan before the current transfer window closes in early February.

It’s unclear how often Rashford will train for the first time since he was omitted from Amorim’s matchday squad.

Cameras will be allowed into Manchester United’s Carrington training ground on Wednesday to film the first 15 minutes of the club’s pre-match training ahead of their crucial Europa League clash with Rangers at Old Trafford.

Both clubs currently sit in the coveted top eight, with United in seventh place on 12 points and Rangers a point and a place behind.

However, 17th-placed Plzen are just three points behind United with two games remaining, with both clubs unsure of securing a play-off spot.
