Abdukodir Khusanov: Manchester City sign Lens and Uzbekistan centre-back until 2029
Manchester City have signed Lens centre-back Abdelkodil Kusanov on a four-and-a-half-year contract until 2029.
Club sources say the transfer fee for the 20-year-old is £33.6 million plus add-ons.
18 months ago, French Ligue 1 team Lens spent only £84,000 to introduce Kusanov from Belarusian club Energetik-BGU.
However, he has developed rapidly, making 16 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season and scoring his first goal for the club in December’s Coupe de France tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
Kusanov made 18 appearances for Uzbekistan and will become the country’s first player to feature in the Premier League.
“This team is full of the best players in the world and I can’t wait to meet them and play alongside them,” Kusanov said.
“Of course Guardiola is one of the greatest coaches of all time and I’m excited to learn from him and improve my game further.”
