UFC 311: Islam Makhachev breaks Khabib Nurmagomedov’s record with win over Renato Moicano
Islam Makhachev defeated Renato Moicano in one round to successfully defend his UFC 311 lightweight title and set a new record.
The Russian has now defended his belt four times in a row, a first in the UFC.
The record was previously held by legends Khabib Nurmagomedov, Benson Henderson and B.J. Penn, who all completed three defences.
Makhachev, 33, asserted himself as the UFC’s best with an unstoppable performance on Saturday night in Inglewood, California.
“I like this belt,” Makhachev said. “If anyone wants this belt, come to the cage.”

35-year-old Brazilian player Moicano intervenes 24 hours notice Friday, but he was no match for the dominant champion.
Less than a minute after the first bell, Makhachev choked the struggling Moicano with a brabo, forcing the challenger to take the shot almost immediately.
“I’m always looking for the end,” Makhachev said.
“I’m not just talking the talk. All the fight weeks, all the training camps, all the media, if my opponent gives me even the slightest chance, I’m going to end the night.”
Makhachev also extended his current winning streak to 15 games and improved his overall record to 27 wins and 1 loss.
UFC president Dana White, who has spent the past 12 months defending heavyweight champion Jon Jones, acknowledged Makhachev as his personal best.
