The news was announced by Tyson Seeliger, Nabors vice president of Eastern Hemisphere operations, during a U.S.-Libya roundtable held at this year’s 2025 Libya Energy and Economic Summit to advance cooperation between Libya and the United States. cooperation in the energy sector.

“We want to start getting our feet on the ground,” Seeliger said, adding, “Currently, we have two rigs in Waha, a third is about to start up, and we look forward to what the future holds.”

At the same time, Jeremy Berndt, charge d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Libya, announced that the United States will soon open an embassy in Tripoli. “I expect the next administration will view Libya as an important partner in global energy security, and we hope to see continued support from the country’s partners,” Jobs said.

Ahmed Ghazali, vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya, encouraged American companies to enter the country and work with local companies. He stressed that technology and knowledge transfer are necessary for Libyan companies to drive socio-economic development driven by a strong energy sector.

Through its partnership with TotalEnergies, energy giant ConocoPhillips has been operating in Libya for decades and has a significant portfolio of energy projects in the country. Therefore, ConocoPhillips Libya President Dag Sanner stressed that the company is currently in discussions with the Libyan parastatal National Oil Company (NOC) to secure further investments in the oil and gas industry in the coming years.

Last year, the energy giant, a partner in the Waha field, asked for an extension of the contract with the state oil company until 2046 while increasing its field profit margin from 6.5% to 13%.

The roundtable was also attended by global technology company SLB, which announced its ambition to increase the country’s oil production, contributing to the national oil company’s stated goal of increasing oil production to 2 million barrels per day by 2027.
