Denis Law: Man Utd pay emotional tribute to legend before Brighton game

Manchester United pay tribute to former striker Denis Law died on friday 84 – Ahead of Sunday afternoon’s game against Brighton.

Between 1962 and 1973, Law played 404 times for Manchester United and scored 237 goals.

All flags at Old Trafford were flown at half-mast, players wore black armbands and bagpipers played the Flower of Scotland as the teams took the field.

A poem was read as the stadium fell into silence, with United legends Sir Alex Ferguson, Pat Crerand, Alex Stepney and Brian Kidd all present.

Stadium announcer Alan Keegan told the fans: “Apart from the goals, this man held his head high and inspired everyone with a heart of gold.

“He is still the king of Stretford Stand.”

Ferguson laid a wreath in the center circle and supporters applauded.
