President El-Sisi Meets the Commander-in-Chief of Libya’s National Army – Africa.com
Today, President Sisi, accompanied by the Director of General Intelligence, Major General Hassan Rashad, received the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
Ambassador Mohamed Al-Shennawi, spokesman for the Presidency, said the meeting highlighted the special nature of Egypt-Libya relations. President Sisi stressed that Libya’s stability is closely related to Egypt’s national security. The president emphasized Egypt’s tireless efforts and efforts to ensure Libya’s security and stability, safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and restore its development trajectory. He affirmed Egypt’s full support for all initiatives aimed at achieving these goals.
President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s commitment to ensuring the unity and cohesion of Libya’s national institutions. He stressed the importance of coordination among all Libyan parties to develop a comprehensive political road map that would facilitate simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. President Sisi also stressed the vital importance of preventing foreign interference and ensuring the withdrawal of all foreign troops and mercenaries from Libyan territory.
President Sisi stressed Egypt’s appreciation of the national role played by the Libyan National Army in the fight against terrorism, thereby eliminating terrorist groups in eastern Libya.
Field Marshal Haftar expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s key role in restoring stability in Libya and its tireless efforts to support the Libyan people since the outbreak of the crisis, underscoring the historical ties between the two brotherly countries. He praised Egypt’s key role in sharing development experiences with Libya and leveraging the expertise and capabilities of Egypt’s leading companies in the field. Field Marshal Haftar confirmed that efforts are continuing to resolve the situation in Libya to restore the resources of the Libyan people and pave the way for the establishment of stability, prosperity and progress.
