NBA: Gilgeous-Alexander dazzles as Oklahoma City Thunder rout Cleveland Cavaliers
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put in a dazzling performance as the Oklahoma City Thunder avenged last week’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a dominant victory.
The 26-year-old scored 40 points in 29 minutes to help the Thunder beat the Thunder 134-114 at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
Canada’s Gilgeous Alexander led Luguentz Dort with 22 points, while Jalen Williams added 19 points.
The result puts both teams at the top of their respective conferences with identical 34-6 records.
“It’s the cream of the crop and obviously you want to test yourself against the best to see how good you really are,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.
“We tested ourselves and I think we passed.”
Elsewhere, DeMar DeRozan scored 31 points and the Sacramento Kings snapped a five-game winning streak with a 132-127 victory over the Houston Rockets.
The Phoenix Suns also defeated the Washington Wizards, the Indiana Pacers defeated the Detroit Pistons, and the Los Angeles Clippers easily defeated the Portland Trail Blazers.
