European Challenge Cup: What Welsh sides need to qualify for knockout stages
Connacht, Montpellier, Pau, Ospreys and Edinburgh have already progressed to the last 16, with a further 11 teams set to join the knockout stages by Sunday evening.
There were 9 games in the final round of the Challenge Cup group stage. 12 teams advanced to the top 16 from the second-tier group stage and 4 teams were eliminated from the Champions League.
The four highest-placed clubs in the Challenge Cup’s three divisions will advance together with the fifth-placed club in the Champions League’s four divisions.
In terms of knockout rankings, clubs will be ranked in descending order based on group ranking and accumulated match points to form a total list of 1st to 16th place.
Challenge Cup group winners will be ranked one to three, with the top two teams having potential home advantage ahead of the final.
The second-placed team will be ranked between four and six, with the top two third-placed clubs ranked seventh and eighth. These eight teams will have home field advantage.
The four teams relegated from the Champions League will be ranked 9th to 12th, and the remaining four teams from the Challenge Cup will get the last four spots from 13th to 16th.
