Louis Rees-Zammit: What next for ex-Wales wing, one year after NFL move?
Rees-Zammit is known for his blazing speed and agility on the football field, qualities that are coveted in the NFL.
But the 23-year-old’s transition has not been without its challenges. Reese-Zammit has played multiple positions, including running back and special teams.
Schechter believes wide receiver might be his best option.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about improving his football IQ,” Schechter explained.
“He needs to absorb as much knowledge of the game as possible. It’s going to be tough for him, but his athleticism is undeniable and that will give him a solid foundation.”
With a new head coach in Jacksonville on the way, Reese-Zammit’s future in the NFL remains uncertain.
The Jaguars did not elect to sign Reese-Zammit to a reserve/future contract, which the team could use to prevent the player from negotiating a trade with other teams.
Therefore, the former Wales tight end could work out a deal with any of the NFL’s 32 teams, but he could return to Jacksonville in the future.
“Their season is over now and they don’t really start coming back until late March, early April,” Schechter said.
“No one is really in the building right now, but he’s doing everything he can to make sure he can re-sign with the Jaguars or find another team.”
