EV, hybrid sales reached a record 20% of U.S. vehicle sales in 2024 | Global News Avenue

DETROIT — Sales of all-electric and hybrid vehicles reached 20% of U.S. new car and truck sales for the first time last year, marking a landmark year for “green” vehicles but growing faster than many had expected Be slow.

Automotive data company Motor Intelligence reports that more than 3.2 million “electric” vehicles were sold last year. This includes 1.9 million hybrid vehicles (including plug-in models) and 1.3 million fully electric vehicles.

The data showed that sales of traditional cars with gasoline or diesel internal combustion engines continued to dominate, but fell to 79.8%, with Hyundai falling below 80% for the first time in history.

There is more uncertainty about the sales performance of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles this year, pending potential upcoming actions Trump administration.
