Australian Open 2025: Katie Boulter loses to Veronika Kudermetova in second round
British number one Katie Boulter’s hopes of making it big at maiden Grand Slam ended by Russian Veronika Kudermetova at Australian Open .
No. 22 seed Bolt lost to the former world number nine 7-6 (7-3) 2-6 6-2 in the second round at Melbourne Park.
The 28-year-old Bolt is making his 15th career appearance and has never made it past the third round of a Grand Slam before.
With her serve below par and too many unforced errors, Kudermetova, now ranked 75th, showed her pedigree.
Bolt is aiming to become the fourth Briton to reach the last 32 in singles, which would be a record for the country.
Emma Raducanu is the only woman to advance to the third round after defeating Amanda Anisimova earlier on Thursday, while Jack Draper and Jacob Fearnley also entered the same stage on Wednesday.
