Yousef Salech: Cardiff City target move for Sirius striker

Cardiff City are targeting Danish striker Youssef Saleh.

The 22-year-old plays for Swedish side Sirius and is reportedly worth between £3 million and £4 million.

Championship contenders Cardiff City are hoping to make their first signing of the January transfer window ahead of Saturday’s South Wales derby against Swansea City.

It looks unlikely that they will sign Peterborough United striker Ricky Jade Jones, who has been a target.

The Peterborough League One side rejected an offer from the Bluebirds for the 22-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Cardiff City manager Omar Riza confirmed earlier this month that the Welsh club had Talks held over signing striker Pescibut may now have to look elsewhere.

Riza will not be linked with Saleh, who has scored 13 goals in 29 games for the Sirius.

“Forward positions, potential wingers, hopefully in the next few days we can bring in some players. Probably one, doubt it will be two,” Riza said.

“I speak to the board every day about transfers, I speak to Mr (Vincent) Tan (Cardiff City owner), Ken (CEO, Zhu), Mohammed (Dalman, chairman), Paddy (Germany) Boyce, Director of Recruiting) talk…we were all in, the list of players I gave them, they worked really hard to get them in.

“In the next few days, the situation regarding the player will become clear. We may have a player available before the derby and he may get some minutes.”
