Manchester City close in on deal for Brazilian teenager Vitor Reis
Manchester City are close to signing young defender Vito Reis from Palmeiras.
City have been in talks with the Brazilian club for weeks and, after some resistance, the Premier League club believe talks have finally reached a breakthrough that will lead to 19-year-old Reis eventually joining them.
Palmeiras had hoped to keep Reis for next summer’s Club World Cup.
However, City sources believe Reis will join them immediately if the deal, reportedly worth £29.4m, is finalised.
Reis is a Brazilian under-17 international who has made 18 appearances for Palmeiras in the league.
A right-footed centre-back, Reis will be part of Guardiola’s revamped squad, which also plans to include Lens defender Abdelkodil Kusanov, Meanwhile, talks are ongoing with Eintracht Frankfurt over a deal for striker Omar Marmouche.
