Go Off Grid in Style With a New Look From Airstream

The classic Airstream trailer is getting some sleeper aesthetic updates, as well as new off-grid capabilities. airflow new midnight flamingo Package comes in black trim on the outside, trim changes on the inside, 300 watts solar panel Built-in, 200Ah battery storagehigh-performance Klipsch audio system and more. Available on the Flying Cloud 25FB and 27FB, it’s a different style for a brand with an iconic and decidedly traditional look.

We looked inside CES 2025 and found an interior that was comfortable and looked quite modern. Hidden away is a bunch of electronics, including a Battleborn battery mounted behind the trailer hitch, a Victron charge controller, a subwoofer in the bench seat, and a host of speakers.

What is Midnight Flamingo?

Note the black trim, including the front storage bin and front stone guard. Also included in the package is a 3-inch lift with suspension and black wheels.

I guess the flamingo isn’t pink at midnight because it’s dark? Maybe it’s just a cool name. To be honest, I love it. While this trailer won’t be mistaken for an Airstream, various elements around the stainless steel exterior have been blacked out, including the stone guards, bumpers, various other trim pieces, and storage bins. Hidden between said storage box and the trailer itself is the metal box that houses the battery.

Battery Compartment Built for War

The built-for-war battery compartment is located between the trailer and the front storage compartment. It should be well protected there.

There are 300 watt solar panels on top and two air conditioners surrounding it. If you find yourself staying away for a while and don’t want to rely on solar power, a 50 amp shore power connection is available. A 2000 watt inverter means you can run most household appliances, or at least ones suitable for a travel trailer. A controller above the sink controls the system.

Speaking of systems, the head unit of the Klipsch audio system is hidden in a cabinet above the main desk. There are two speakers on the sides and two more in the bedroom. A subwoofer is hidden on a bench near the door. There is also a TV here, as well as one in the bedroom.

Between the living area and the bedroom is the bathroom, with a shower room on the other side. The storage fills up almost all other available space.

The overall design reminds me of a modern home. Not exactly to my taste to be honest, but there are plenty of options in colors and fabrics, so if you’re looking for something different, it’s possible. The refrigerator holds 8 cubic feet of food and beverages, and the 3-burner stove runs on propane. You can choose to use an oven or microwave with the same functionality.

controller

Control of inverter and solar charge controller above sink.

There’s no pricing (an annoyingly common feature at CES), but the Midnight Flamingo package will be available in the coming months.

Midnight flamingos hatch

Also included in the Midnight Flamingo kit is this rear hatch. Truly the star of the show.
