Donyell Malen: Aston Villa sign forward from Borussia Dortmund
Aston Villa announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Donyel Malen.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international has moved to the Premier League club for a reported fee of €23m (£19m) plus €3m (£2.5m) in add-ons.
Villa have not confirmed the fee involved or the length of Mullen’s contract.
Former Arsenal youth player Mullen scored 13 goals for Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season and helped the German team reach the Champions League final.
He faces a similar challenge at Villa Park, where Unai Emery’s side are fighting to reach the final stages of the Champions League.
Mullen scored nine goals in 41 games for the Dutch senior team and participated in the 2024 European Cup.
He joins a Villa side that are eighth in the Premier League going into midweek’s game, four points away from qualifying for the Champions League.
