The Eritrean Medical Association held its 26th Annual Conference on January 11 at the Asmara Palace Hotel.

Speaking at the event, Professor Negasi Leake, President of the Association, emphasized that the medical association has more than 200 members who play a key role in the country’s healthcare system. He emphasized the responsibility of members to lead efforts to improve health care delivery, advocate for patients and modernize care delivery to achieve measurable results.

Professor Negasi also pointed out that the scientific papers published at the conference are of great significance to daily medical practice. He encouraged members to actively participate in operations research and contribute to scientific research of medical significance.

Research papers from the conference address key topics including reducing maternal mortality, combating drug resistance, livestock owners’ understanding of brucellosis and malaria drug resistance.

The research paper was discussed extensively and various suggestions were adopted by the participants. These include expanding the membership scale of the association, improving member capabilities, establishing research committees, establishing information networks, etc.

The Eritrean Medical Association has been established for more than 30 years and has continued to grow and has more than 200 professional members.
