Sisters fine before vanishing in Aberdeen
Two 32-year-old sisters who went missing in Aberdeen appeared to be “doing well” in the days before they went missing, according to their brother.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, one of three triplets, were last seen in Market Street, Victoria Bridge, at around 02:12am on Tuesday.
Police launched a massive land, air and water search for the two women, who are originally from Hungary and now live in Aberdeen city centre. It was said that it was very out of character for them to go out at this time.
Their brother Joseph told BBC News that their mother spoke to the girls on Saturday. They talked for 40 minutes and nothing unusual happened.
Their sister Edit Huszti – another triplet – said she spoke to them via video call on New Year’s Eve and they seemed happy.
She said the sisters were very close and did most things together.
They were described as sociable, but the family was told they didn’t like to go out much – preferring to stay home and watch movies, and Eliza especially enjoyed cooking.
She added that she thought it was out of character for them to be out on the street so early in the morning.
Edith said she hoped her sisters would be able to return home safely.
It is understood that there is no indication at this stage that this was a suspicious incident.
Both Eliza and Henrietta are described as white, of slim build, with long brown hair.
They moved to Scotland about seven years ago.
They are said to be part of a “close” family and they don’t understand what happened to the couple.
It is understood that Henrietta worked at a branch of Costa Coffee in Aberdeen.
Police said they were last seen on the Victoria Bridge side of the Tory area, where there are a number of commercial and industrial units, and searches were ongoing.
Searches are being carried out in the waters of the River Dee, on land around the area and by air.
A Police Scotland helicopter has been providing assistance.
Police divers and search and rescue dogs were also called.
Officers are urging businesses in the South Esplanade and Menzies Road areas to view CCTV footage recorded in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Inspector Darren Bruce said: “We are continuing to speak to people who knew Eliza and Henrietta.
“We urge anyone who has seen them or has information about their whereabouts to contact 101, quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday 7 January 2025.”
