Rodrigo Bentancur: Tottenham midfielder taken off on stretcher after injury against Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was stretchered off after just six minutes of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool.
The 27-year-old Uruguay international fell unmarked as he stretched to head the ball from a corner.
Bentancur spent about nine minutes on the pitch receiving treatment and oxygen before being replaced by forward Brennan Johnson.
He was later confirmed to be conscious and talking and was taken to hospital for further examination.
Tottenham boss Angie Postkoglu told Sky Sports after the game: “I don’t have all the information. My understanding is that he was conscious, he was conscious when he got to the dressing room. We took him there Hospital check-up.”
“It’s concerning, and it’s always concerning, but from what I can tell, hopefully he’s going to be OK.”
Match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Lucas Bergvall’s late goal gave Spurs a 1-0 lead.
