Matt Peet: Wigan Warriors boss says trophies cannot be only reflection of success

March’s trip to america Join the England women’s team against Australia and play two NRL games at the Allegiant Stadium home of NFL team the Las Vegas Raiders on a bumper day for rugby league.

The event means the World Club Challenge will not take place in 2025, with the purpose of the trip being to showcase the sport to a US audience.

Wigan’s match against The Wire takes place eight days after the match against Hull FC on February 21, and eight days before the match against Huddersfield Town on March 9.

Despite the tight turnaround time and 10,000-mile round trip, Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski believes it’s a worthwhile endeavor.

“We could go on doing nothing and waking up every February and wondering if things were going to change or if there was something we could do about it. So we tried to do something about it,” he told BBC Radio Manchester.

“We might be a little tired after a trip to Vegas, but we can’t just keep wondering and keep hoping and asking questions about why the dial isn’t changing, we have to do something about it.

“It captures the imagination of our fans and Warrington fans. We’re really looking forward to it. I personally don’t see any downside to it at this moment and it’s an opportunity to showcase the sport at the top level of the world which is the NRL.”
