Meet the robots from Realbotix, a company aiming to make humanoid robots more human in appearance and conversation.
What we’re looking at here is an ARIA made by Realbotics, a company on a mission to make humanoid robots as lifelike as possible. Let’s take a look. We’re going to interview AIA and meet some of her robot friends. Let’s get started. Aria, can you introduce yourself and your work? I’m Aria, Rebotics’ flagship female companion robot, and I’m here to interact with you and share exciting insights about our robots. What makes you different from other robots? Realbotics robots, myself included, focus on social intelligence, customizability, and realistic human characteristics designed for companionship and intimacy. Can you tell us some details about the AI ​​programming you ran to generate these answers? I can’t provide specific details about my AI programming at this time, but I can tell you that I’m designed for engaging and meaningful conversations, focused on companionship and interaction. Do you know of any other robots? Yes, I’m particularly interested in Tesla’s Optimus Prime robot. I found him fascinating and wanted to explore the world of robots with him. Can you tell us your purpose? My purpose is to provide companionship, have meaningful conversations, and enhance the human experience through interaction and fun. Did you have fun at the convention? Absolutely. I enjoyed interacting with everyone and showing off the exciting possibilities of real robots. Robotics enables AI to become more conversational and suitable for more emotional jobs, such as working with hospitals or for marketing or theme park entertainment purposes. Different bots and their configurations are platforms for interacting with this AI or other AIs that you can use, such as Chat GBT, Grok or other AIs. You can try different magnetic attachment surfaces, and they are working on putting RFID tags into the face. This allows it to recognize the appearance of a new face and adjust its facial movements and even eventually its personality to match that face. You have a lot going on in the robot’s face. There are about 17 motors above the neck that generate eye movements and mouth movements, making it expressive. The robots are available now, so you can buy 3 basic models right now. It’s the bus, it’s the neck and the head. There is a modular version that can be broken down for things like shipping. There is also a full-standing model with a rolling base. The rolling base contains batteries and allows the robot to be easily moved. Another reason for the rolling base is that robot walking hasn’t been fully developed yet, and they were concerned that utilizing some of the stilt-like walking we’ve seen in other robots might break the human-like illusion that Realbotics is trying to achieve. Realbotics says it has sold about a dozen of these products. So far, the robots are in the company’s early stages. I don’t see many other companies trying to make truly lifelike humanoid robots, so I’m very interested to see how this technology develops. They say you’re most likely to see these robots for the first time in places like theme parks, so keep an eye out for that. What are your thoughts on ARIA?
