Son Heung-min: Tottenham Hotspur trigger option to extend forward’s contract until 2026
Tottenham Hotspur have triggered the option to extend forward Son Heung-min’s contract by one year until the summer of 2026.
The 32-year-old joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and scored 169 goals in 431 games for the club.
The South Korea international scored 125 goals and provided 68 assists in 320 Premier League games.
“It’s fantastic,” said Tottenham manager Anj Postkoglu. “He has had a great career at this football club.
“He has played an important role over the past decade and made an impact on the club and the Premier League. It’s great to extend his stay.
“Our aim is to make sure he ends his Tottenham career with some trophies.”
Son Heung-min reached the Champions League final for the first time with Tottenham in 2019, but Tottenham lost to Liverpool, but he has yet to win a trophy with the club.
The north London outfit announced his contract extension ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at home to Liverpool.
Tottenham are ranked 12th in the Premier League this season, with Son Heung-min scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists in 17 top-flight games.
