NBA: Jimmy Butler suspended by Miami Heat after trade request
The Miami Heat suspended forward Jimmy Butler seven games for “conduct detrimental to the team” and will listen to trade offers for him.
The 35-year-old, a six-time NBA All-Star, said he “probably” wouldn’t be satisfied playing for the Heat again.
“We have suspended Jimmy Butler due to his conduct that has been detrimental to our team on multiple occasions throughout the season and particularly over the past few weeks,” the Heat said in a statement.
“Through his actions and words, he has shown that he no longer wants to be a part of this team.
“Jimmy Butler and his representatives have indicated that they want to be traded, so we will listen to offers.”
Last week, Heat president Pat Riley said he had no intention of trading Butler.
Since joining in 2019, Butler has played 377 times for the Heat.
His most recent game was a 128-115 win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, where he had nine points, four assists and two rebounds.
This season, Butler averaged 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
He previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls.
