Thomas Tuchel: England head coach to watch Tottenham v Newcastle on Saturday
Thomas Tuchel will watch his first round of club games as England manager this week, starting with Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash at home to Newcastle on Saturday.
The 51-year-old German was confirmed as Three Lions boss in October, succeeding Gareth Southgate. Officially took office on January 1st.
Tuchel and his team are preparing for England’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will take place against Albania at Wembley on March 21.
Forward Dominic Solanke and midfielder James Maddison are among the England players likely to feature for Tottenham, while defender Lewis Hall and winger Anthony Gordon are expected to feature for Newcastle.
Tuchel, meanwhile, has added three more members to his backroom staff – goalkeeping coach Enrique Hilario, performance coach Nicolas Mayer and analyst James Melbourne.
The trio work alongside Tuchel and assistant coach Anthony Barry, who was announced in October, alongside the existing England senior staff.
Portugal’s Hilario and England’s Melbourne join from Chelsea after working with Tuchel at Stamford Bridge in the 2021-22 season.
Frenchman Mayer joins after spending time with Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
